I feel that this video does touch on points regarding potential intimacy and the concerns that may arise regarding diagnosis and overall health status. I feel that the language could have been more explicit, rather than vague.
I would have similar conversation with a heterosexual female, but would discuss which contraceptives would be best if sexual intercourse occurred. I feel that it is important to be client focused and meet them where they are at, exploring their definitions of intimacy and comfort levels/concerns they are experiencing during this time in their diagnosis, prognosis, treatment.
I appreciated that the training program included populations that medical staff will come across, as it is important to tailor the education/emotional support to that specific patient and their specific needs. I agree with you that getting more detailed is sometimes necessary with patients, and the medical staff cannot assume that the patient knows/has experience with the topic.
