It appears that the social worker has a wealth of knowledge in regards to fertility and family planning options for the AYA client. However, it being the first session with the client, it may be beneficial for the social worker to hold space for him to process his feelings surrounding the lack of choice prior to treatment in regards to his fertility. Allowing the client to process this, can also assist with building rapport. While it is helpful for him to know of options available for moving forward, the amount of information up front may be a bit overwhelming. I would suggest having the client direct the conversation, in regards to his concerns about fertility, and what his feelings are in regards to starting a family.
