In this case, the social worker did a good job addressing the couple’s concerns and opening a discussion of family building options. The social worker also shared information about available resources and gently assessed the couple’s interest.
Such as in this case, it is advantageous to have resources available and accessible for patients. Within the hospital setting that I am situated in, patients have access to reproductive endocrinology, psychological / psychiatric care, social work, case management, chaplain services, and support groups. Additionally, several other AYA, cancer-related, and/or infertility community supportive services and resources are available locally.
