The MD I work with came back from the AYA conference in TX a couple of weeks ago with an important ethical question. Almost every baby born using cryopreserved ovarian tissue has been to mothers that at the time of tissue preservation had already started or were past puberty. It begs the question of what the pre-pubertal patient/family understand about the potential benefits of this option. It may have an extremely low rate of efficacy. There is a potentially big risk/benefit issue that must be fully explored with them.
